Fish Room Operator & Fishmonger – Seafood – Dumfries and Galloway
£12.50 per hour (3-month probationary period)
£13.00 per hour thereafter
Up to 20 hours per week. Possibility of full time in other areas of the business
West Coast Sea Products are looking for a passionate individual to join the Dumfries and Galloway team to support the growth of the business. The successful candidate will be working primarily in fish preparation in the fish room in Kirkcudbright. They must be capable of working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and have excellent organisation.
This physical role sits within our Fish Room team. You’ll be responsible for the preparation and organisation of fresh and frozen produce to be distributed to all four areas of the business. Our Fish Room staff are the backbone to our fishmongers, shop and restaurants our landed seafood journey starts with you!
Le rôle comprend, mais sans s'y limiter, les responsabilités suivantes:
Responsible for all fish room tasks
Preparing and packing fish for our fish vans, Skipper’s Fishmonger, Swally n’ Scran & Skipper’s Scran Van
Prepping fresh and frozen fish orders for wholesale customers (Local restaurants)
Filleting various fish produce
Delivering orders to local customers (Minimal)
Organising frozen stock and keeping logs up to date
Daily cleaning of fish room
Hours of work:
Must be able to work on Tuesday & Thursday each week from 5am until 2/3pm
Additional hours available if the applicant is looking for more than a part time role
Due to the changing nature of the business, the successful applicant must have the flexibility to change their working days, advanced notice is always provided by the company
Compétences essentielles
Must hold a full UK driving licence with no major endorsements
Excellent Organisational skills
Basic knife skills
A successful candidate must be self-motivated, trustworthy, reliable and able to adapt to change.
Compétences souhaitables
Previous delivery driving experience and/or experience of driving a van
Fish filleting skills
Experience in working with seafood
Passion pour manger et / ou connaissance des fruits de mer (la préférence sera donnée aux candidats qui peuvent le démontrer).

Experience:
Van driving: 1 year experience (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
Driver’s licence with no major endorsements (preferred)
Food Hygiene Level 2 (employer will put applicant through course if not already completed)
Self-employed Share Fishers
Our fleet of Scallop boats fish around the UK and we require self-employed deckhand share fishers. Our boats are currently working out of Kirkcudbright, The English Channel and The North Sea.
Working under the watch of The Skipper, we are looking for fishers who are team players, and who have a desire to learn and develop new and existing skills, with the potential to train as Officer of the Watch with progression to training towards your Skipper Ticket. Fishers must have a flexible attitude towards work.
Full training will be provided, experience is preferred although not essential.
