Our local Fishmongers located in the heart of Kirkcudbright hosts a wide range of locally sourced Scottish Seafood as well as a carefully curated range of products that we know work well with our seafood.

Come and visit us in store to see our full range of fresh seafood produce, freshly made heat and eat meals, deli items, fruit and vegetable stall and so much more!

Why ‘Skipper’s’ you may ask.

We named our local Fishmongers Skipper’s as a nod to the original Skipper at West Coast Sea Products: John King Senior.

John King Senior began as a lobster fisherman back in 1968. From there he went on to fish for Scallops and built West Coast Sea products to be what it is today: a fleet of five scallop fishing vessels with a factory that has over 100 local employees exporting Scottish Scallops across Europe.

We first started to provide our local services in 2020 delivering fresh scallops to peoples’ doors. When demand grew, we invested in two mobile fishmonger vans that have been travelling around Dumfries and Galloway giving rural areas access to Scottish Seafood.

Skipper’s Fishmongers is the next step in our local services, offering permanent shop with longer opening hours for the Kirkcudbright community and beyond. The local community was close to John King Senior’s heart, and we know he would have loved to see fresh local seafood, landed by our vessels, being sold in the heart of Kirkcudbright.

Placing an order with us

Our online shop is available for click and collect at Skipper’s Fishmonger. Plan ahead for the week to secure your fish order.

All online pre orders must be in by Monday at midnight every week. We recommend pre ordering for larger orders and to guarantee to get the fish you would like.

You can also place an order by calling our shop directly. This can be done at any time during our opening hours, our fishmonger will let you know if we have your request in stock and when it’ll be available to collect.

If you are placing a large order please be aware that it may take longer for your fresh seafood to be ready for collection.
