2020 presented many challenges for both individuals and businesses alike. WCSP, like many, had to adapt and implement new procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of our staff. However, through difficult times WCSP also began a new and exciting venture: establishing WCSP’s local roots.
How it started:
Whilst everyone’s lives became more restricted and going out to restaurants became a thing of the past, Alice saw how good quality food, at an affordable price, gave individuals, families and communities something special to look forward to. As a result Alice set up our local distribution chain, and began supplying quality scallops direct to customer’s doors. The demand spoke volumes! People were excited by the quality of our product, and the orders increased each week. Within a few months Alice was supplying products to Edinburgh and the Lothians, West Linton and Biggar, as well as offering weekly collections for those local to Kirkcudbright.
Where it is now:
We’re now 6 months into this new venture and it has come a long way! We have collaborated with several small and local businesses which has allowed us to provide even more fresh fish to our customers. Our partners include: Barratlantic; which was originally founded by John King Senior, Caledonian Oysters and Silversea fish. With this new range of locally sourced products we have become established at several local farmers markets in Edinburgh and Dumfries and Galloway.
We hope to expand this venture considerably in 2021; attend more local markets and provide fresh Scottish products direct to customers’ doors. We truly believe that locally sourced foods should be both affordable and accessible to the Scottish community, and through this new venture we have been able to make this a reality for those purchasing our product.
