In response to the increased cost of living, we have launched a pay what you can frozen fish package in Edinburgh.
This new service focuses on providing high-quality and affordable frozen fish to those living in the Edinburgh area. The venture allows customers to pay what you can for 1kg bags of frozen fish, in an effort to make our produce more accessible and reduce barriers to healthy, fresh, and local produce.
How pay what you can works:
Quite simply, our pay what you can service allows you, the customer, to choose what price you pay for our product. You can pay anything from £0 up, depending on what you can afford.
Why ‘pay what you can’:
We think local Scottish produce should be more accessible to those living in Scotland. Due to the rising cost of living, and the growing concerns over food security, we wanted to provide a service that allows individuals to access our products regardless of income.
We hate waste! Any products that we have left each week are frozen whilst fresh. This means we can sell it for a discounted rate; still high-quality, still local, just more affordable!
How the pay what you can service works:
Order your 1kg frozen bag online through our shop page. Enter the amount you want to pay, and select the date and time you would like to pick your bag up.
Currently we have one pick up day each month. These are open to anyone, however, please note that the fish must be collected from the EH17 area. We are looking at trying to offer more pick up locations and times, but currently we can only manage the one.
Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email. This will show a summary of your order as well as an order number. When collecting your fish bag, simply quote that order number or your name and select a bag of your choice.
We understand the sensitivity you may feel using a pay what you can service. We keep all of your information private, meaning that we only share essential information with our team. The amount you pay is not shared with our team.
In the fish bags:
The types of fish available may change each month, as it is dependent on what fresh produce we have available to freeze. In most cases each bag will contain an assortment of two to three different fish species.
Each bag will have the species written on the outside, to let you know what’s inside. On collection, you can select the bag that you fancy the most.
Species that may be included are:
- Tusk
- Dover Sole
- Smoked Haddock
- Cod
- Red fish
- Hake
- Crab Claw
- Grey Sole
- Haddock
- Rainbow Trout
- Turbot
- Plaice
- Mackerel
- Brown shrimp
Please note there may be traces of molluscs and crustaceans as they are sorted in our factory.
The first available day for collection is Sunday 18th September. You can place orders for our September pick up now.
