Silver Sea Fish provide supreme live mussels from Loch Leven and other surrounding mussel farms throughout the busier months. The mussels are rope grown in the freshwater loch and dispatched to the central belt on the day they are harvested. The freshness of this product is second to none and have received amazing feedback from our customers.
We recommend eating mussels within the first 5 days of receiving them. Then can however keep fresh for eating for over a week. The best way to keep mussels are refrigerated in an open dish as it allows them to breathe.
We would advise eating mussels fresh but they can be frozen when live. They will die in the freezer but remain safe for eating. They do not freeze as well as other shellfish such as Langoustines and Scallops.
