Our langoustines are wild caught around the Western Isles and off the west coast of Scotland.
Despite our langoustines not being live, they retain their freshness for 5-6 days from when they are caught. They are packed with ice and kept refrigerated which retains their quality. We recommend keeping them on ice and in their packaging until you plan to cook them. Once langoustines have been cooked, they can be kept for 2-3 days refrigerated.
Langoustines are often known as Dublin Bay prawns and are a close relative to lobsters. They are much smaller than lobster but are the most highly prized shellfish for their outstanding flavour. The meat is found in the tail and also in the claws of our larger sizes.
XL langoustines impress our customers as they are rare to come by. They have a great amount of meat and we recommend 4-5 per portion. We highly recommend trying our XL.
Large langoustines are a good all-rounder getting a decent amount of meat in the tail and claws. We recommend around 6-7 langoustines per portion.
Medium langoustines are perfect if you are serving as part of a platter. They hold the same depth in flavour but with much smaller claws. Ideal if you are having a variety of seafood. We recommend 8 – 10 per portion.
Small langoustines are perfect for feeding a bigger group of people who aren’t fussed about digging into the claws. We recommend 10 – 14 for per portion.
Please note: If the selected size isn’t available on the day we will provide a substitute.
