King Scallop meat will retain their fresh taste and smell for 3-4 days although we recommend eating within the first 2 days for ultimate flavour. They also freeze very well and retain their quality when thawed out slowly. King Scallops make an excellent main dish. We recommend 5-6 scallops for a main course and 2-3 scallops for a starter.
The roe on a King Scallop has a stronger flavour and a different texture to the white meat. Although it’s not to everyone’s preference, the roe can add a great flavour to your scallop dishes. The roe can also be used to make a butter which adds great flavour to a sauce or garlic butter to use in various seafood dishes.
